Major Bug In Apple Watch OS Fixed For Voiceover Users

Voiceover users who were early adopters of the new Apple Watch OS 5.0 software might have spotted a major flaw in the operating system when it dropped on September 17th.

When navigating to the Control Centre on the Apple Watch, you were able to browse the various buttons on there and while all of this was accessible, double-tapping on any selected button wouldn’t enact anything. This meant you had no control of the Water Lock feature, Mute or any of the control functions of the watch.

Double Tap can now confirm that this bug has been fixed in the latest update to Watch OS, version 5.0.1 released on the 27th of September.

Other updates in this minor release include:

  • A fix to correct an issue that caused a small number of users to see an increase in exercise minutes
  • Addresses an issue that caused some users to not receive Stand credit in the afternoon
  • Fixes an issue that could prevent Apple Watch from charging
